Gale R. Arnold went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 1, 2014 surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Gale was a lifetime resident of Akron, Ohio born June 11, 1947. She attended Akron Public schools and was a graduate of Hammel Actual Business College. Gale was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where she retired with 30+ years of service and later worked for Akron Public Schools.

Gale was a lifetime member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church, serving on the Vestry, Altar Guild, Food Pantry as well as other special events. In later years, she visited Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and Mt. Haven Baptist Church. She was an active community volunteer last working on the Election Campaign for President Obama. She was an avid exerciser and one of her favorite things was walking her beloved dog Lucky. Gale belonged to the Red Hat Club and birthday clubs with family and friends where she was always the life of the party. Gale was a happy spirit and loved by many.

Preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Roy Arnold; sister, Marsha Dee; brother, Gerald W. Arnold; her last remaining Aunt Constance P. Crandall-Evans; she leaves to cherish her memory, son, Roy (Papa) Arnold; granddaughter, Brittany D. Arnold; sisters, Cathy (William) Lee, Mona (John) Diamond, Carla Arnold, Donna (Gregg) Carter, and Helen Duboise, Beverly (Ronnie) Latson; brothers, Royal (Marian) Arnold, John Arnold, and Gary Arnold; special uncle, Easter Butler of Los Angeles, Calif.; special cousin, Candace Crandall; and a host of many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Calling hours will be held TODAY, February 6, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sommer-ville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd., Akron, Ohio. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St Philips Episcopal Church 1130 Mercer Ave., Akron, OH 44320. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1446 Crestview, Akron, OH 44320.
