Compliments of BSG Rose Hill Memorial Park

Ernest E. Breyfogle, M.D., passed away on July, 18, 2012. He lived independently at home until his final days. Born March 24, 1915 in Chillicothe, Ohio, he was the son of Madge Putnam Breyfogle and Edwin W. Breyfogle, M.D. He spent his first few years in life on a farm near Frankfort, Ohio, and then moved to Columbus, Ohio for a few years. He moved to Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Scott High School. He entered The Ohio State University, obtaining a BA degree in 1937, majoring in biological sciences. He then entered The Ohio State University Medical School, graduating with an M.D. in 1941. He interned in Akron City Hospital in 1941-42, then entered the Army of the United States, 1942-1946. He practiced as a family physician in Orrville, Ohio in 1946-47, and then went to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor from 1947-1950, to specialize in Radiology. He was certified by the American Board of Radiology and was a Radiologist at Massillon City Hospital from 1950 until 1994. He was Chief of the Department of Radiology for some years. He had many hobbies, including small and large game hunting, trap shooting, target practice and fly fishing. For many years he raised and showed St. Bernard dogs, winning several Best in Show and finishing a number of Champions, including several International Champions. He was also a golfer and member of Shady Hollow Country Club. His favorite hobby was flying. He obtained commercial, instrument and multi-engine ratings. He owned a small twin-engine plane. He flew all over the United States, into Canada and as far away as Acapulco, Mexico. He is survived by three sons, Steven, of Houston, Texas, Michael, of Mesa, Ariz., and Edwin of Massillon, Ohio. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He touched the lives of many -- as a physician, as a friend, colleague and Father. All who knew and loved him will treasure their memories of "Doc." Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens
