Lawrence L. Uhl, age 87, passed away on February 22, 2017 at the residence of his daughter surrounded by his family. Lawrence was born and raised in Mapleton, Iowa. He served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and returned home to marry Elva June James. In 1952 he moved his young family to the east coast and became an electrical journeyman/lineman. He was a sixty year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He retired to Sparta, NC, where he became a certified weightmaster and worked for Alleghany County for over 20 years and retired from that position after his 87th birthday. Mr. Uhl was predeceased by his first wife Elva June James, and one of their sons, Stephen. He is survived by their six children, Michael (Ann), Katherine (William), Deborah (Joseph), Pamela, Anita and Cynthia. He was predeceased by his second wife Janet Stott and is survived by their son Larry. He was predeceased by his wife Scarlett Holstein. He is survived by four of his eleven siblings, His Brother, Gary; his sisters, Kathryn, Phyllis and his twin sister Lucille. Also survived by 26 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Sparta, N.C at a date convenient to the family.
