The Life of Margaret Chastant

Margaret Rasmussen Chastant, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday February 15, 2014 at Saint Patrick''s Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA. The celebrant will be Rev. Keith LaBove, pastor of Saint Patrick''s Catholic Church.

Left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Elmo C. Chastant of Lafayette; two daughters, Ann Chastant Alesi and her husband, Mike, and Joan Chastant Raaz and her husband, Dana; three sons, Thomas J. Chastant and his wife, Paula, Kim C. Chastant and his wife, Bonnie, and Daniel P. Chastant; nine grandchildren, Julie Chastant, Mariano Alesi, Lauren Alesi Gaspard, Joshua Alesi, Michael Chastant, Neil Raaz, Dean Raaz, and Kelly Raaz; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Alexine Colter Rasmussen; and her brother, Wilmer Rasmussen, Jr.

A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Margaret Rasmussen Chastant was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Pat Guidry, Lee Quibodeaux, and Mel Quibodeaux for their loving care of Mrs. Margaret.
