The Life of Joseph B Roberts

Lafayette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph B. Roberts, 89, will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Pius Catholic Church with Father William Schambough officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 3:00PM until-8:00PM. The recitation of the rosary will be held at 7:00PM, Thursday night led by the St. Pius Knights of Columbus. Visitation will resume on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. 

A native of Maxwell, PA and a resident of Lafayette, Mr. Roberts died on Sunday, January 26, 2014. He was a charter member of St. Pius Knights of Columbus, a decorated WWII veteran and played saxophone with The Iberian Big Band.

 He is survived by his son, Retired LTC Gregory M. Roberts and his wife Karen of New Iberia; his daughter, Candace E. Roberts, MD and her husband Dan Witschey of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Gregory M. Roberts, II and his fiancé Crissy Frederick of Youngsville, Michael R. Roberts of Lafayette, Alexander R. Witschey of Houston, Texas, and Catherine E. Witschey of New York; He is additionally survived by two sisters, Marion Vigliotti, and her husband, Tony and Dorothy Barnes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Roberts.
