The Life of Grady David Aldridge

New Iberia- Funeral services will be held for Grady David Aldridge, age 75, on Monday January 6, 2014 at 2:00pm at the David Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Denton to officiate the service. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be begin on Monday January 6, 2014 from 12:00pm and conclude before the funeral service at 2:00pm.

Mr. Aldridge was born February 1, 1938 to Grady Forest and Rachel Beatrice Aldridge in Gainesville, Texas. After graduating from high school, Mr. Aldridge went to North Dakota to work in the oilfield. In 1971, he married Suzann Ruth Horob in Williston, ND. His oilfield journey, as manager with The Dia-Log Co. took him and his family from Williston, ND to Rock Springs, WY and eventually to New Iberia, La. where he retired after 32 years of service.

He was an avid golfer, enjoyed working with his hands and excelled at carpentry. He loved working in his yard and was always working on a project in his woodshop. He was also a member of Highland Baptist Church. His friends and family considered him the “Go To Guy” for everything.

Mr. Aldridge was very proud of his family and especially enjoyed being a Grandpé and PawPaw. He was always teaching his family life lessons about taking pride in your work. Mr. Aldridge was a provider, a simple man, a great father, and will be missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Aldridge is survived by his wife of 42 years, Suzann “Sue” Aldridge; sons, Scott, Chad, and Bradly Aldridge; grandchildren, Destinee’ and Jackson Dean; granddogs, Rufus and Amos Lee; brother, Johnny Aldridge; sisters, Rachel Akin and Elizabeth Bearden and husband Joe; and sister-in-law, Laurel Aldridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Forest and Rachel Beatrice Aldridge; siblings, Francis “Muriel” Austin, Catherine “Tish” Gandolph, Rufus Aldridge; brother-in-laws, Ray Austin, Paul Gandolph, Wixi Akin; and father and mother-in-law, Clenton and Ruth Horob

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Aldridge, Chad Aldridge, Bradly Aldridge, and Dean Horob.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland Baptist Church Capital Campaign, 607 Victory Dr. New Iberia, La. 70563.
