The Life of Malcolm Joseph Bordelon Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard for Malcolm Joseph Bordelon, Sr., 70, who passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at his residence in Lafayette surrounded by his family.

Interment will be in at Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette Louisiana.

Reverend Louis Richard, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Reverend Keith Landry, Pastor of St. Ann Catholic Church in Cow Island, and Reverend Lloyd Benoit, Pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Franklin, will concelebrate. Lectors will be Sister Carmelita Latiolais and Rita Thibodeaux. Giftbearers will be his grandchildren, Dylan Bordelon, Hugh, Austin and Logan Leger, and Aidan and Amelie Bordelon. Musical selections will be "Amazing Grace," Pie Jesu," "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman," and "Panis Angelicus." A special song, “My Way”, will be played from his favorite singer Elvis Presley.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Ilene T. Bordelon of Lafayette; three children; Moxey Bordelon and his son Dylan; Jimmy Bordelon his wife, Amy Claire Gremillion Bordelon and their children Aidan and Amelie; Monique Bordelon Leger her husband Tres and their children Hugh, Austin and Logan; and one sister, Betty Williamson and her husband, Ambrose.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Loney Marie Villemarette Bordelon; three brothers, Milburn, Silton and Melvin Bordelon; and four sisters, Cecilia Cahee, Agnes Ducote, Grace Juneau and Theresa Thompson.

Malcolm Joseph Bordelon, Sr. was born in Pineville, Louisiana on August 8, 1943. He graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana and went on to serve his country as a member of the Army National Guard. He met and married the love of his life, Ilene Thompson and settled in Lafayette while raising their three beautiful children, Moxey, Jimmy and Monique. Malcolm worked for many years as a self-employed, highly skilled certified welder in the oil and gas industry. He was a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church community in Broussard. Malcolm was also a member of M.E. Girard Lodge # 450 of Lafayette, LA, The Scottish Rite Bodies and a the Shriners of Habibi Temple of Lake Charles, LA. He loved cooking, fishing, going to his camp at Toledo Bend, woodworking and was also an avid reader. Malcolm lived for and loved his family dearly especially his five grandsons, Dylan, Hugh, Austin, Logan and Aidan and the Angel of his heart, his granddaughter, Amelie. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all and will be sadly missed.

His pallbearers will be Tres, Hugh, Austin and Logan Leger, Dylan Bordelon, Aidan Bordelon, Jimmy Fontenot, Johnny Day, Karl Drobish and Dick Conner. Honorary Pallbearer will be Pennye Conner.

A Rosary will be recited by Amy Claire and Aidan Bordelon and Reverend Keith Landry on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille’s DOWNTOWN Location

The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 2 PM to 9 PM and will continue on Thursday from 8 AM until the Funeral Mass.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Malcolm and his family during their time of need.
