The Life of Lillian Fontenot

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette, for Lillian Fontenot, age 70, who died on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Richard Vidrine, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Vicki Derouen and Louis Gaudet. Giftbearers will be Emily Stacks, Sarah Styles and Lillian Fontenot. Karen Melancon, organist, will sing for the services, "Be Not Afraid", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Isaiah 49" and "How Beautiful". Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Billy R. Fontenot; two daughters, Lena Fontenot Styles and her husband Travis Styles and Lelia Fontenot Stacks and husband Jason Stacks; one son, Corey Fontenot and his wife Megan Jennings Fontenot; seven grandchildren, Emily Stacks, Sarah Styles, Tucker Styles, Abigail Stacks, Lillian Fontenot, Mary Margaret Fontenot and Adele Fontenot; four sisters, Jenny Bateman, Joyce Gondron, Shirley Hernandez and Ethel Rodriguez; five brothers, Clifton Gaudet, Dennis Gaudet, Louis Gaudet, Raymond Gaudet and Joseph Gaudet Jr.She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Gaudet and the former, Lelia Berthelot.and a sister, Hilda Gaudet.Mrs. Fontenot was born on October 12, 1943 in St. Martinville, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette for 50 years. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Bell South for 30 years. After retirement she became a spoiling grandmother. Mrs. Fontenot''s Catholic faith was very important to her and she was a devout member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. After surviving breast cancer Lillian bravely battled Alzheimer"s. Pallbearers will be Billy Fontenot, Corey Fontenot, Jason Stacks, Travis Styles, Dennis Gaudet and Clifton Gaudet.Honorary Pallbearers will be Louis Gaudet, Raymond Gaudet, Joseph Gaudet Jr., Lawrence Rodriguez and Tucker Styles. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
