The Life of Herbert B. Carter

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Herbert B. Carter, 95, who passed away on October 28, 2013 in New Iberia. Reverend John Wamsley, Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church will conduct the services. Internment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Carter, a lifelong resident of Lafayette, was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and participated in the invasion of Normandy during WWII. It was during this campaign that he crash landed his glider and received the Purple Heart. He is survived by two daughters, Marguerite “Peggy” Carter and Jo Alice Carter Cronan, her husband, Dr. Brooks Cronan; his granddaughter, Tracy Dunham Broussard and her husband J Barton Broussard; and three grandsons, Bradley Carter Broussard, Charles Webb Broussard and John Cole Broussard. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. Pallbearers are Rock H. Lasserre, Jr., Eric V. Toce, Dr. Brooks Cronan, J Barton Broussard, B. Carter Broussard, C. Webb Broussard and John Cole Broussard. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
