The Life of Effie Broussard
Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Effie Simon Broussard, 97, who passed away on October 23, 2013 at 1:00 pm at her residence.
Reverend Dan Edwards, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.
Mrs. Effie, a longtime resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Eugene Simon and the former Alzina Guidry. In 1951 she went to work for Heymans Department Store and retired in 1991 with over 40 years of service. She continued on with her passion of sewing, sewing for kids, grandkids and for family Mardi Gras costumes. Effie loved to entertain her family and friends, hosting a coffee party every Friday for the past 50 years, she will be missed by many.
She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Baronet and husband Willie of Lafayette, LA; one son, Ray Broussard and his companion Jessie Marie Trahan of Carencro, LA; four grandchildren, Kristie Semar of Houston, TX, Lyndie Comeaux and husband Claude of Carencro, LA, Ray Broussard, Jr. of Lafayette, LA and David George of Lafayette, LA; five great grandchildren, R.J. Semar, III, Monete'' Semar, Richelle George, Seth Comeaux and Madison Comeaux; and two great great grandchildren, Jewel Pastor and Scarlet Comeaux.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Villere Broussard; two sisters, Gladys LeBlanc and Sally Trahan; and one brother, Curley Simon.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 9:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Broussard, Mike Broussard, Ray Broussard, Jr., R.J. Semar, III, Joel Simon, Curley Simon, Mark Bourque and Seth Comeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Trahan, David Trahan and David George.
