The Life of Edith Romero

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flower for Edith S. "Blondie" Romero, 91, who passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 2:35 am at Pelican Pointe Nursing Home in Maurice, LA. Reverend Kevin Bordelon, Associate Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Edith, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Odeance Schexnayder and the former Elrina Toups. Edith’s greatest joy was gardening, crocheting, going to the casino, and spending time with her dogs. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth M. Romero and wife Barbara, and Lionel Primeaux, Jr.; her three grandchildren, Kenny Romero, Tonya Hoffpauir, & Mitzi Primeaux; her sisters, Elrena Barras, & Anna Mae Dore, Elizabeth Moss, Alice LeBlanc, Sharon Landry, Linda Froster, Myra Hebert, and Shiley Seagle; her brothers, Joseph, Maurice, Ray, David, and Dale Schexnayder, and Jerry Abshire. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald J. Romero, her son, Kirk Romero, her sisters Nita O''Neil, Theresa Trahan her brother Presley Schexnayder, and Clifton Abshire. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home Bertrand Drive on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 8:00 am until the time of service. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
