The Life of Mary Ruth Hoffpauir

Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 12, 2013 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mary Ruth Naquin Hoffpauir, 91, who passed away on October 10, 2013 at 12:35 pm at her residence. Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mrs. Hoffpauir, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Arthur Naquin and the former Elmira Freyou. Mary Ruth married Cyril Abner Hoffpauir in 1939 and together they were the co-founders of Southland Engine Co. in the late 50''s. She also worked for Sears & Roebuck for 17 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Mary never met a stranger and her family was her highest priority. She loved people, traveling, gardening and shopping. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Ruth Hoffpauir Knowles of Lafayette, LA and Shirley Ann Hoffpauir Dronet and husband Richard of Lafayette, LA; three grandchildren, David Dronet and wife Rachel, Angela Ruth Dronet DeRousselle and husband Kevin and Michelle Ann Dronet Schollian and husband Brandon; five great grandsons, Jade Bernard and wife Christie, Brett Dronet, Matthew DeRousselle, Bryce DeRousselle and Isaac Schollian; one step great grandchild, Chloe; one great great grandson, Kai Bernard; and one sister, Wilda Naquin Faulk of Abbeville, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 45 years, Cyril Abner Hoffpauir; six sisters, Gertrude Lee, Lena Baker, Roberta Quaidy, Ella Pesson, Laura Compete and Elmira "Totsy" Stackhouse; four brothers, Sterling "Charlie" Naquin, Earl Naquin, Arthur "Peto" Naquin, Jr. and Wayne "Cocoa Bean" Naquin and one son-in-law, Joe R. Knowles. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 9:00 am until the time of services. Pallbearers will be Jade Bernard, Brett Dronet, David Dronet, Matthew DeRousselle, Kevin DeRousselle and Brandon Schollian. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Hoffpauir''s name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Ste. 600, Lafayette, LA 70503. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for their loving care given to Mrs. Hoffpauir during her time of need.
