The Life of Anthony Roberts

A Catholic Service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at 2:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Anthony "Johnny" Roberts, age 65, who died on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacon Cody Miller, with St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton will conduct the Catholic Services. Lectors will be Stewart Blue and Stan Adams. Eulogist will be Tina McCormick. Karen Broussard, organist, will sing for the services, "Ave Maria", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace". Survivors include his wife, Deborah Burgamy Roberts; four step daughters, Tina McCormick and her husband, Lee, Roxanne Broussard and her husband, Jules, Christine Bourque and her companion, Everette Gary and Michelle Bodin Riddle and her husband, Michael; ten grandchildren, Rochelle Thompson, Nicole Gary, Katie Boggs, Desire'' McCormick, Bryan Broussard, Koy Bourque, Kody Bourque, Angelle Martin, Shelby Bourque and Brodie Riddle; three great grandchildren, Abbygail, Hailey and Bentley and one brother, Jimmy Roberts and his wife, Bertha. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abel Roberts and the former, Frances Gladys Veazey. Mr. Roberts was born on August 15, 1948 in Lafayette, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was a veteran of military service and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Mr. Roberts was employed with Datel Tool Company for 25 years as a Salesman. He was an avid outdoorsman,who enjoyed hunting and golfing. In earlier years he worked as a Lafayette Sheriff Deputy and also as a paramedic for Acadian Ambulance. Mr. Roberts will be truly missed by his loving family and numerous friends. Pallbearers will be David Dugas, Pat Breaux, Jules Broussard, Michael Riddle, Koy Bourque, Bryan Broussard and Kody Bourque. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home by Brady LeBlanc. The Roberts family extends their heartfelt and sincere appreciation to Datel Tool Company for their care and unending support given to Johnny and his family during this difficult time.
