The Life of Floyd Dale Wilkerson
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Floyd Dale Wilkerson, 64, who died on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Pastor of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Jacey Dansdill and Amanda Long. Giftbearers will be Jessica Fussell and Rebecca Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 43 years, Debora Thibodeaux Wilkerson; one daughter, Dawn McDonald and her husband, Mike; one son, Brad Wilkerson and his fiancée, Jacey Dansdill; his father-in-law, Waldo J. Thibodeaux; four brothers, Derald Long and his wife, Dianna, Milton Wilkerson and his wife, Carol, Mike Wilkerson and Gerald Long and his wife, Tina; three step-sisters, Brenda, Carolyn and Darlene; and two granddogs, Petey and Stark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Allison Wilkerson; his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Borel Thibodeaux; two sisters, Pat Wilkerson and Elaine Elmer; one step-sister, Becky Fabin; and two brothers, Jerry Wilkerson and Russell Wilkerson.
Floyd Dale Wilkerson was born on September 15, 1949 in Rayville, Louisiana. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Mr. Wilkerson worked in the oil industry for 48 years and was currently employed with Superior Energy as a tool specialist. He loved gardening, family gatherings, and listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to all and will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Long, Derald Long, Wesly Wilkerson, Glenn Thomas, Mike Wilkerson, Milton Wilkerson and Keith Thibodeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike McDonald, Tim Thomas, Mike Thomas and Jared Long.
A Rosary will be recited by Brady LeBlanc on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Location.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
