The Life of Betty Simon
A Catholic Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette, for Betty V. Simon, the former Betty Viator, age 80, who died on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Cornerstone Village South in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Deacon Richard Picard, with Holy Cross Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard will sing for the services, "Beautiful Saviour", "Be Not Afraid", "Shepherd Me, O God", and "On Eagles'' Wings".
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Dr. Donald J. Simon; three daughters, Dianne Simon-TenEyck and her husband, Ron, Karen Simon McManus and her husband, Jerry and Julie Simon Martin and her husband, Jeff; seven grandchildren, David Haddock, Jason Haddock, Heidi Myers, Kristen Goldsmith, Michael McManus, Jake Martin and Josie Martin; ten great grandchildren; and one brother, Ledia Viator, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ledia Viator and the former Elia Suire, both natives of Abbeville, Louisiana; one sister, Shirley V. Gautreau; and two brothers, L. J. Viator and Lloyd Viator.
Mrs. Simon was born on January 20, 1933 in Abbeville, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette since 1959. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Mrs. Simon was a talented seamstress, who was very creative and was a wonderful cook. She was an artist, who loved painting and was a licensed florist and a licensed cosmetologist. Mrs. Simon was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Haddock, Jason Haddock, Greg Goldsmith, Jerry McManus, Michael McManus and Jeff Martin.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home by Deacon Richard Picard.
