The Life of Joseph Clyde Arsement
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 5, 2013 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Joseph Clyde "J.C." Arsement, 73, who passed away on August 30, 2013 at 7:42 pm at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Deacon Art Bakeler of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Joseph, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Clyde Arsement and the former Ezide Roberts. He worked for Doug Ashy Building Materials for 19 years before retirement. Before his illness, he loved to play golf and enjoyed spending time at his camp on Bundick Lake. He devoted his life to his family and made an impact on everyone that he knew. J.C. never met a stranger and will be missed by all of the people that knew him. He faced death with grace and dignity that only reinforced the selfless life that he lived. "Papop" always said that he wanted to see his little pumpkin graduate before he died, and now he will see it all happen from heaven.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Connie Arsement of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Sherry Roy and husband Larry of Rayne, LA; two sons, Billy J. Arsement and girlfriend Lynne Welch of Lafayette, LA and Cory N. Arsement and wife Tammy of Iowa, LA; one niece that was like a daughter to him, Stacey Dronet of St. Martinville, LA; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Arsement and wife Helen of Rayne, LA; numerous nieces and nephews; and his two little dogs, Gracie and Rosie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley May Credeur and Susie Arsement; and two brothers, L.J. Arsement and Gerald Arsement.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Billy J. Arsement, Cory N. Arsement, Patrick Credeur, Jr., Bobby Arsement, Fred Arsement, George Arsement and Mark Arsement. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Arsement, Shyla Arsement and Talyn Borne.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lafayette General Medical Center and LTAC, for the special care that they gave J.C. during his illness.
