The Life of Mary Lou Thibodeaux

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Mrs. Waldo J. Thibodeaux, 83, the former Mary Lou Borel. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park. Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Rebecca Thomas and Jacey Dansdill. Giftbearers will be Dawn McDonald and Jessica Fussell. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace", "You Raise Me Up", "Wind Beneath My Wings" for the services. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Waldo J. Thibodeaux; three daughters, Sue Thomas and husband Glenn, Debora Wilkerson and husband Floyd, and Ginger Guillory all of Lafayette; one son, Keith J. Thibodeaux and wife Charlotte of Houston; one brother, Walter Borel of Lafayette; six granddaughters, Dawn McDonald and husband Mike, Jessica Fussell and husband Mike, Samantha Guillory, Marguerite and Claire Thibodeaux and Lauren Loomis; three grandsons, Tim Thomas, Mike Thomas and wife Rebecca, and Brad Wilkerson and fiancée Jacey Dansdill; three great granddaughters, Lily and Molly Kate Fussell, Maddie Grace Thomas and one expected to be born in December; and four great grand dogs Sarge, Petey, Frank, and Stark. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dalson and Eugenie Borel; two brothers, Clifford and Daniel Borel; five sisters, Olive Cormier, Ann Landry, Lydia Domingue, Hilda Stutson, and Nell Winkler; two grand children, Allison Wilkerson and Ross Guillory. A native of Catahoula and resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Thibodeaux died on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her residence in Lafayette. Mrs. Thibodeaux was affectionately called “Maw” by her grandchildren and “Grand Maw Maw” by her great grandchildren. She was an exceptional woman choosing to pursue a career after raising her family. She attained a BA and M.Ed. from USL and taught for twenty years in Lafayette Parish School System, retiring June 2, 1995. Her home was filled with love and laughter. Her care and concern for everyone kept her involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her home was always open to everyone, and she will be sorely missed. Pallbearers will be Tim and Mike Thomas, Brad Wilkerson, Mike McDonald, Mike Fussell, and Samantha Guillory. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marguerite and Claire Thibodeaux, and Errol Winkler. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
