The Life of Virginia Grace Holt
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 22, 2013 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Virginia Grace Hill Holt, 84, who passed away on July 18, 2013 at 11:40 am at her residence.
Reverend Steve Berger, Associate Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church, will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mrs. Holt, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Robert Hill and the former Grace Cagle. She was a native of Tyler, TX and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. She became an avid Texas A&M fan after her marriage in 1953 to an alumni while enjoying living throughout Mississippi and southern Louisiana.
Virginia enjoyed playing card games with her friends of Acadian Women and New Acadians of which she was a member. She was also a member of SPE Ladies Auxiliary Group and the Acadiana Symphony Association. She had an adventurous spirit for life, enjoyed traveling and welcomed new experiences.
She is survived by three daughters, Laura Kathleen Rhodes and husband Jerry of Owasso, OK, Jacqueline Cecile Holt of Scott, LA and Sherrie Michelle Sarver and husband Lee of Elk City, OK; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a special friend of the family, Dawn M. Hurst.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Linda Gallet, a special friend, for her love, friendship and care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack M. Holt, one son, Thomas Carlton Holt, and one sister, Mary M. Bickle.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Visiting hours will continue on Monday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
