The Life of William Corris Heath

A Funeral Ceremony will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for William Corris Heath, 86, who died Friday, June 28, 2013 at Emeritus Assisted Living in Lafayette. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette. John Wamsley, Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, will officiate. William was born Sunday, March 27, 1927 in Wade, NC and was a long-time resident of Lafayette. A proud veteran, William served in the Navy during World War II. He served aboard the USNS UPSHUR as a Licensed Junior Engineer and 3rd Asst. Engineer. William was employed with Travelers Insurance Co. as a Safety Engineer for over 20 years. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Lafayette. William was a man of his word and a person of integrity. Taught good morals and spiritual values by his parents, he was an above average Christian. William was active in his community and belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Lafayette. He was a talented handyman and served the Lafayette community as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. He also developed a love for Cajun dancing at Randol’s and loved spending time with his family and friends. William was a loving and supportive father, grandfather, brother, uncle, comrade and friend and he will be deeply missed. Mr. Heath is survived by his beloved daughters, Terry Deshotels and her companion, Joel Sadau of Sanger, TX, Susie E. Kibodeaux and her companion, James of Grand Isle, Julia H. Darnell and her husband, Tony of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Deshotels of Lafayette, Sabrina Kibodeaux Smith and her husband, Tyler of Galliano, Shannon Kibodeaux of Crowley and Tyndall Darnell of Orlando, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Thelma Alice Heath, former wife and mother of his children, Barbara Garthright Heath, son-in-law, Gregory Deshotels, three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Monday, July 1, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and resumes Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services. Pallbearers will be Michael Deshotels, Tony Darnell, Tyndall Darnell, Johnny Deshotels, David Earl, Tyler Smith and Ron Wyatt. Honorary Pallbearer is Bobby O. Heath, Sr. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hoffpauir and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, Home Instead Senior Care and the staff of Emeritus of Lafayette for the compassionate care given to William and his family.
