The Life of Marie Laurent

Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 21, 2013 in Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Marie Simon Laurent, who passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 4:00 am at her residence. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville, Pastor of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick, LA will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Marie, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of Dallas J. Simon and the late Mable Trahan Simon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and was known as “Maw Maw” to many. She loved reading and family gatherings were her specialty where many memories were created. She is survived by her husband, Roland W. Laurent; her father, Dallas J. Simon; her daughter, Pamela L. Benton and her husband Michael; her sons, Raymond J. Laurent, David A. Laurent, and Paul J. Laurent and his wife Melody, and her daughter, Paula L. Smith and her husband Kenneth; her grandchildren, Jacob and Austin Benton, Alex and Caroline Laurent and their mother Mary Laurent, Colleen, Meghan, Matthew, and Warner Laurent, Adam Burke and Tyler and Caitlin Smith, Stephanie Gaudet, Steven and his wife Lany Gaudet; her great grandchildren, Bentlee Laurent, Haleigh Schnapp, Kyleigh Gaudet, Steven Gaudet III and Landon Gaudet; her sisters, Adeline S. Miller, Jane S. Menard, Abby S. Ghergich and Debra S. Martin; her brothers, Andrew and Raymond Simon; her brother – in – law Robert Allen Laurent. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mable T. Simon. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home 1011 Bertrand Dr. Lafayette, LA on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2013 evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Friday, June 21, 2013 from 8:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Jacob and Austin Benton, Matthew, Alex and Warner Joseph Laurent, Tyler Smith, Adam Burke, and Steven Gaudet, Jr. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, and Dr. Joseph Brierre. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70506.
