The Life of Loyd Tully Dendy

Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Loyd Tully Dendy, 90, who passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his residence in Lafayette, Louisiana. Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church will be the Celebrant and will conduct funeral services. Entombment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Dendy was a resident of Lafayette, LA since 1948. He was the son of the late Jessie Lee Dendy and the former Allie Irene Tully. Loyd retired from AMOCO Production Company after 38 years of service. He often said that no one could have worked with a better class of people then his associates. He was a veteran of World War II and The Korean Con?ict, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. There were three landings in World War II; North Solomon’s Islands, New Britain Islands, and Pelau Island. He was a member of St. Genevieve Church in Lafayette. LA. He is survived by daughter-in-laws, Mary Jane Dendy and Deborah Dendy. Granddaughters; Libby Airhart and husband Jason, Victoria Dendy, and Nichelle Wallace and husband, Ricky Grandsons; Brian Dendy, Dwayne Dendy and Wife Catherine, Jason Dendy and wife Rachel; sister-in-laws; Marella Breaux and husband Shirby, Audrey Champagne and husband Vernon, and Benny Mae Crouch; brother-in law; Tom Sargent; six grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of them loved and appreciated. He was preceded in death by Nelma Sonnier Dendy; adored spouse of 61 years; three sons James Douglas Dendy, Paul Lawrence Dendy and Daniel Kenneth Dendy; his parents, Jessie Lee Dendy and Allie Irene Tully Dendy; one sister; Dorothy Dendy Calhoun; three brothers Jessie W. Dendy, Doyle K. Dendy, and Jackie D Dendy. In lieu of ?owers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, suite 200 Lafayette, LA 70506 or to your charity of choice. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 18 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm services at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Brian Dendy, Dwayne Dendy, Jason Dendy, Donald Sargent, Ed Breaux and Mark Sargent. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Sonnier, Jason Airhart. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to his caregivers, Hospice of Acadiana for their kindness, loving care, and support.
