The Life of Madeline Gray

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 10:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Madeline Louviere Gray, who passed away on Friday, December 2, 2011 at her home in Butte La Rose, LA. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Lafayette location. Reverend Michael Keith Landry, Pastor of St. Anne Church in Cow Island, LA, will be the Celebrant of the Memorial Mass and will conduct the memorial service. Born on May 19, 1939 in New Iberia, Madeline was a graduate of LaGrange High in Lake Charles, LA and a longtime resident of Lafayette and Butte La Rose. She worked in the finance field, as well as a medical supply management technician. She was a long standing member (29 years) of Alcoholics Anonymous and a grateful breast cancer survivor of twelve years and an active member in these local support groups. Known to close family and friends as "Tee Mad", Madeline was an Honorary Sergeant Major in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded plaques, letters of appreciation and unit flags from combat units in Iraq and Afghanistan. She was instrumental in the purchase, boxing and shipping of nearly 3000 pounds of care packages to "her marines" in the field over the past ten years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Perrett; her son, Eric Perrett; parents, Leonard and Irene Louviere, Sr.; and one brother, Leonard Louviere, Jr. Survivors include her loving husband, Ted Gray of Butte La Rose; a sister, Veronica Louviere DeGroat and her husband David of New Iberia; two children, Cathy Matthew of Converse, GA and Greg David of Augusta, GA; three stepchildren, Dawn Boles and her husband Mario of Alpharetta, GA, Cecelia Webre and her husband Allen of Norco, LA and Kelly Gray and his wife Dayana of Youngsville; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three nieces; and four nephews.
