The Life of Rosa Mae Melancon

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Rosa Credeur Melancon, age 83, who died at 4:48 AM on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at her daughter''s residence. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Survivors include three daughters, June Angelle and her husband Norris Angelle Sr. of Lafayette, Susan Ardoin and her husband Mark Ardoin of Youngsville and Kathy Fontenot and her husband Keith Fontenot of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, John Angelle, Marc Hebert, Jared Hebert, Carrie Angelle, Megan Fontenot, Bryan Angelle and Michael Ardoin; seven great grandchildren, Kaylee Chesson, Breanna, Jonathan and Hunter Angelle, Lane Hebert, Nicholas and Lilyen Fontenot. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oran Melancon; her parents, Elus and Alice Roger Credeur; three sisters, Lena Credeur, Lucille Credeur and Anna Belle Richard; two brothers, Alex Credeur and Milton Credeur. Mrs. Melancon was born on September 29, 1929 in Carencro, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. Rosa had so much love for her children, sons-in-law and grandchildren. In her younger days, she enjoyed laughing, playing cards, cooking and being with her family. She and her husband, Oran went on many road trips together and enjoyed life to the fullest. Mrs. Melancon was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette. Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Keith Fontenot and Mark Ardoin, her grandsons, Marc Hebert, Jared Hebert, Bryan Angelle and Michael Ardoin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Norris Angelle Sr., John Angelle and Mickey Richard. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
