The Life of Alvin Jerome Beck
Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 19, 2013 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Alvin Jerome Beck, 85, who passed away on April 15, 2013 at 7:25 am at Our Lady of Lourdes.
Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Beck, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late William Beck and the former Loretta Thiel. Alvin was a United States Army veteran, serving in Japan after WWII. He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond with a degree in Accounting. He was a charter member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and an usher for 35 years, serving as head usher for many of them. Alvin was also an RCIA sponsor. He loved the New Orleans Saints, ballroom dancing and going on cruises, having gone on 33 of them. He was an accountant at Pennzoil, retiring after 38 years of service with them.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Zeibel Thibodeaux Beck of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Marcia B. Moffitt and husband Lance of Yerington, NV; one son, Blaine F. Beck and wife Tanya of Maurice, LA; five grandchildren, Haven Beck, Alexander Beck, Haylen Beck, Andersen Beck and Anthony Jacob "A.J." Beck; and three sisters, Joyce Adams and husband Harold of Marrero, LA, Patricia Martin of Algiers, LA and Mary Louise Harmeyer of Algiers, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, April, 18 2013 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Friday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
