The Life of Shirley Bruce

Shirley “Corky” Bruce was a resident of Salt Lake City, UT since March of 1994, having moved from Lafayette, LA. Corky was born on July 2, 1935 in Jackson, MS. At the age of 6, she moved with her parents, Blount and Cecilia Kuriger Wright (both deceased), to south Louisiana. She graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1953, attended LSU and McNeese, and met and married William “Bill” Bruce (deceased), a native of DeQuincy, LA in 1955. Their union brought about 3 wonderful children and a great family: Kathleen Bruce Prudhomme; David, Teresa, Shayna, and Alysha Bruce; Irene Bruce and Carol Cancienne; and numerous “grandcats”. A Memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard to celebrate her full life on April 27, 2013 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Interment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Feeding America (www.feedingamerica.org), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), ASPCA (www.aspca.org), Water.org (www.water.org), or National Relief Charities (www.nrcprograms.org) Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
