The Life of Bernice Trahan

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at a 1:00 PM service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Bernice V. Trahan, 82, who died on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at her residence in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Misti Guidry, Erin Taylor, and Crystal Carrier. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist will sing "Amazing Grace," "On Eagles'' Wings," "Be Not Afraid," and "You Raise Me Up" for the services. Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara Taylor and her husband Donald, Lucille Ann Pothier and her husband Ernest, and Doris Peltier and her husband Clyde; six grandchildren, Lee Taylor, Misti (Peltier) Guidry, Erin Taylor, Hunter Peltier, Brandon Pothier, and Crystal (Pothier) Carrier; four great grandchildren, Morgan Guidry, Averi Taylor, Gabrielle Peltier, Elise Pothier, and two on the way, Baby Taylor and Baby Peltier. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Joseph Lee Trahan; her father, Pierre Descar Vezena; her mother, Armid Fontenot Vezena; brothers, Willie Vezena, Adam Vezena; sisters, Nat Owens, and Nita Dubroc. Bernice was a native to Lake Charles and lived in Lafayette for the last fifty five years of her life. She was a devoted member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Community in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed. Pallbearers will be Donald Taylor, Ernest Pothier, Clyde Peltier, Lee Taylor, Hunter Peltier, and Brandon Pothier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Erin Taylor, Holly Tankersley, Crystal Carrier, Cale Carrier, Misti Guidry, and Shannon Guidry. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be recited by her son-in-law, Donald Taylor on Friday, March 29, 2013 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family would like to give a special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice for all of their care given during such a difficult time.
