Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette. Father Keith Landry will officiate. Maydel was born on April 15, 1926 in Scott and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. Maydel had many roles during her life - daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to all. For 18 years, she worked tirelessly with her clients at the Alleman Center attending to their needs and enabling them to work productively in the community. She also devoted herself to the daily care of her husband, S.J., during his long illness. Maydel never knew a stranger and her door was always open to those in need. Her life was a testament to God''s instruction, found in Matthew 25, to give water to the thirsty, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and care for the sick. Mrs. Hebert is survived by her two daughters, Amie Hebert-Chaney and her husband Paul, Jan Barber and her CMR Charlie Carter, both of Lafayette; two sons, Mike Hebert and his wife Joycelyn of Pecan Island, Tommy Hebert and his wife Jennifer of Lafayette; brother, James Broussard of Gulfport, MS; three granddaughters, Aundria Cannon, Jennifer Barber Valois and Michelle Hebert; four grandsons, Brian Hebert, Justin Escudier, Nick Barber and Vince Hebert; nine great grandchildren; and numerous dear nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, S.J. Hebert Jr., parents, Zepherin and Lucille Broussard, brothers, Alvin Broussard, Roy Broussard, Elmo Broussard, Raymond Broussard, sisters, Evelyn Meyers and Lucille Cox. Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and resumes Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
