The Life of Arthur C Flory

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday March 23, 2013 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Arthur C. "Scotty" Flory, 88, who passed away on March 19, 2013 at 3:45 pm at his residence. Dr. Steve Horn Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lafayette, LA, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Flory, was born in Shreveport, LA, but lived the majority of his life in Houston, TX and resided the past 7 years in Lafayette. He was the son of the late Arthur Flory and the former Lena Trout Flory. A.C. was a veteran of the United States Navy and served as a deck torpedo-man on the battleship Tangey in the South Pacific Theater during the time period immediately after the attack of Pearl Harbor. After discharge from the Navy, A.C. attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1950 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He used this education to begin a career in the sales of corrosive coatings for pipelines working for the Mavor-Kelly Company in Houston, TX, where eventually he rose to CEO and principle owner of the company for many years. A.C. was very active in the National Association of Corrosion Engineers having served in several leadership positions including President, instructor and inspector. Mr. Flory was a devout Christian and served faithfully as a member of the First Baptist Church of Katy, TX, and the First Baptist Church of Lafayette, LA. A.C. served others in generosity, service and compassion as an example and witness of Christ''s love. A.C. was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Peggy Jean Crosby Flory, two sisters and one brother. He is survived by his sons: Chris Flory and his wife; Nancy of Flower Mound, Texas, Keith Flory and his wife Pam of North Richland Hill, Texas, David Flory and his wife Dale of Hot Springs Village Arkansas, Ray Conrad and his wife, Carol of Austin, Texas, Jerry Conrad of Breaux Bridge, LA. his daughter, Claire Conrad of Lafayette, LA his grandchildren; Christopher Flory, Amy Latham and her husband, Mark, Scott Flory, Courtney Flory, Lindsay Walmsley and her husband Matt, Cain Conrad, David McDougald, and his wife, Julie, and Bo McDougald; his great grandchildren, Taylor and Audrey Latham and Emily McDougald. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday March 22, 2013 from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. Visiting hours will continue Saturday March 23, 2013 from 1:00 pm until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A Pregnancy Center, 913 South College Road, Suite 206, Lafayette, LA 70503. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
