The Life of Mildred Boustany

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred Latiolais Boustany will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at a 10:00 AM in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, Louisiana. Visitation will be observed at Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the time of services. Interment will be at Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery. Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Concelebrating the Mass will be Reverend Michael Russo, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana. Assisting on the Altar will be Mrs. Boustany''s grandson, seminarian Joseph Austin Boustany. Giftbearers will be three of her granddaughters, Emily Breaux, Amber Bordelon, and Robin Godeaux. Lectors will be Christine Collins, Mrs. Boustany''s Godchild and Ashley Elizabeth Boustany, her fourth granddaughter. Jodi Bollich, soloist, accompanied by Thomas Niel, organist, will sing "Ave Maria," "One Bread One Body," "Here I Am Lord," "Pie Jesu," and "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman" for the services. Mrs. Boustany was born to Telesmar John Latiolais and Claudia LeBlanc Latiolais on November 21, 1928. A lifelong resident of Lafayette, she worked at Boustany''s Department store while a teenager and met Joseph, who would later become her devoted and loving husband of nearly sixty-five years. In the early years of her marriage, Mrs. Boustany was employed by Bell South Telephone company as an operator. As God sent Joseph and Mildred children, she became a phenomenal housewife, sewing all of her children''s clothing including the wedding dresses and suits. Sewing, as well as cooking, were not chores for her but truly her passion. Surviving Mildred are her three sons, Ronnie Joseph Boustany and his wife Carol Olivier, James Boustany and his wife Brenda Hollier, and Deacon Edward Jules Boustany and his wife Tessa Sagrera; and one daughter, Susan Marie and her husband Paul A Durand, Sr. all of Lafayette. Survivors also include nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren: Damon Boustany and his wife Kathy and their son, Ethan; Shane Boustany and his wife Kristin and their children, Kaitlyn and Addyson Marie; Shannon Boustany and his wife Melissa and their son, Shannon, Jr.; Robin Boustany Godeaux and her husband Jude and their children, Davyn and Kase; Emily Anne Broussard Breaux and her husband Scott and their children Blythe Elise and Brent Paul; Amber Celeste Boustany Bordelon and her husband Charlie; Daniel James Boustany and his wife Kim; Ashley Elizabeth Boustany; and Joseph Austin Boustany. Mrs. Boustany is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Huval and her husband Harold; as well as her nieces and nephews, Christine Collins, Charlotte Boudoin, David Huval, Kathleen Harrell, Hubert Huval, Claudia Dugas, and their families. The Boustany family would like to thank Mrs. May Morvant for her lifetime friendship with our mother. As neighbors, she and her family were always so supportive of mother and daddy. We love you and you are in our hearts. Mrs. Boustany was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Damon Michael Boustany, Daniel James Boustany, Shannon Boustany, and grand-son-in-laws, Jude Godeaux, Charlie Bordelon, Scott A. Breaux.
