The Life of Charles Wesley Truesdell

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette, for Charles Wesley "Charley" Truesdell, age 73, who died on Monday, February 4, 2013 on the LTAC Unit at Lafayette General Medical Center. Reverend Fred Fraser, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Lafayette will conduct the funeral services. Musical Selections will be "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles'' Wings" and "Take My Hand, Precious Lord". Survivors include his wife, Leah Huff Truesdell; two daughters, Jodi Truesdell Venable and husband, John; and Kerri Truesdell Cook and husband, Fred; three step daughters, Tracie Luce, Roxy Simon and Kristie Simon; one stepson, Scott Simon and his wife, Lisa; four grandchildren, Nicholas Graciana, Zachary Graciana, Charles Blake Cook and John Trevor Venable; ten step grandchildren, Heather Gossen, Tobey Gossen, Tyra Gossen, Spencer Gossen, Corey Hardy, Bryce Hardy, Cooper Hardy, Shay Simon, Shovi Simon and Shani Simon; six great grandchildren, Zoe Claire Graciana, Deakin, Drake, and Shayden Simon, Dwayne LeBleu, and Landyn Gossen; one sister, Charlotte Briggs and husband, Woody and a brother, Douglas Truesdell and wife, Winkie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Arceneaux Truesdell; his parents, James Bruce Truesdell and the former, Lorene Calhoun, both natives of Soper, Oklahoma; and a great grandson, Dylan Gary . Mr.Truesdell was born on November 9, 1939 in Eunice, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was an avid golfer, loved the outdoors, fishing and was a former professional baseball player for the Washington Senators. Mr. Truesdell retired as a salesman in the Petroleum Industry. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Thursday from 1:00 PM to until time of service. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Lafayette General LTAC 9th Floor Doctors, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and CNA''s for the loving care they showed him throughout his stay.
