The Life of Lillian Nugent

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at a 12:00 Noon Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Lillian "Nou Nou" Lagneaux Nugent, 92, who died on January 26, 2013 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by family. Entombment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Mausoleum. Reverend Keith Landry, Pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church in Cow Island, Louisiana, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lector will be Gina Babineaux. Giftbearers will be Emily and Brittany Picou. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace," "Ave Maria," "Here I Am Lord," "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman," and "You Raise Me Up" for the services. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Henry Hebert, Betty Hebert Nugent, Leon Lagneaux, Lana Lagneaux, Donna Lagneaux Fallis, Jace Lagneaux, Linda Lagneaux Thomas, Felicia Lagneaux Smith, Lorie Lagneaux Olivier, Brett Lagneaux, Leah Lagneaux Talbot, and Lynette Lagneaux Picou; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas F. Nugent; one sister, Marie Lagneaux Hebert; five brothers, Maurice, Joseph, George, Gilbert, and Bennett; one nephew, Jimmy Hebert; one niece, Shirley Hebert Richard; and two great nephews, Bill Nugent and Cliff Hebert. Lillian Lagneaux Nugent was born on February 13, 1920 in Lafayette, Louisiana were she remained a lifelong resident. Lillian was better known as Aunt Nou Nou to family and close friends. Aunt Nou Nou enjoyed family gatherings, cross-word puzzles, feeding squirrels and the red birds, and had a great love for animals. Lillian Lagneaux Nugent was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed. Pallbearers will be Henry Hebert, Keith LeBlanc, Bobby Joe Picou, Leon Lagneaux, Jace Lagneaux, and Brett Lagneaux. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 9:00 AM until time of service. The family would like to give special thanks to Norma Cole and Donna Caffery for their years of support and care given to Nou Nou. Also to long time family friend Keith LeBlanc for his compassion, love, and care he has shown. The family extends a special expression of gratitude to Nou Nou''s niece, Lana Lagneaux, for her many years of love and devoted care.
