The Life of Monty Lewis Martie

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Monty Lewis Martie, 73, who passed away on January 11, 2013 at 8:05 am at his residence. Reverend Samuel Blaylock, Pastor of Northside Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Martie, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Joseph Egbert Martie and the former Dozine Milburn. Monty was a longtime member of LaRompe hunting club. After retirement from Greene''s Pressure Testing and Martie''s Hotshot, he spent most of his time between his camp in Butte LaRose and his home in Lafayette. In his spare time, Monty enjoyed repairing vehicles, hunting, cooking and celebrating life with friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Gertie Bergeron Martie; his daughters, Jodi Mendelsohn and Wendy Martie-Dugal; his sons, Bryan Martie and Brannon Martie; his grandchildren, Chase Hebert, Kyle Murcin, Melissa Bastien, Christopher Dugal, Bryant Martie, Nicholas Pate, Taylor Peters, Adelonie Martie and Theodore Martie; his great grandchildren, Ayden, Jayden, Demiyah, Montaya and Loïc. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Montie "Quinn" Martie and his grandson, Michael Roy Dugal and his sisters, Marie and Brenda Joy. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continue Monday from 8:00 am until time of service. Pallbearers will be Bryan Martie, Brannon Martie, Christopher Dugal, Adelonie Martie, Nicholas Pate and Danny Guidry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Taylor Peters and Bryant Martie. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
