The Life of Etta Broussard

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Etta Broussard, 100, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by her family. Entombment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery. Reverend Monsignor Charles Mallet, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Bridget Mires and Annetta Nelson. Musical selections will be “Here I Am, Lord”, "To You, O Lord I Lift My Soul”, “Ave Maria”, “Make Me A Channel of Your Peace”, and “J’irai la Voir Un Jour”. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Betty Mires and her husband, I.J. and Cecile Broussard; eight grandchildren, Bridget Mires, P.J. Broussard and his wife Laurie, Dwayne Broussard and his wife, Reneé, Annetta Nelson and her husband, Mark, André Broussard and his wife, Cheryl, Kevin Broussard, Karen Case and her husband, Roy and Joy Lyons and her husband, Eric; fourteen great grandchildren, Melissa, Jessica, Daniel, Adam, Ryan, Brad, Lance, Wesley, Hannah, Amber, Ali, Evan, Hudson, and Madlyn'' and one great great grandchild, Karson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Broussard; her parents, Cyrus and Therese Clause Guidry; one son, Emick Broussard; one son-in-law, Percy Broussard; two brothers, Valex J. Guidry and Fernand Guidry; one sister, Rita Guidry Robin; and two great granddaughters, Kimberly Dawn and Heather Nicole. Etta Guidry Broussard was born on December 2, 1912 in Carencro, Louisiana and recently celebrated her 100th Birthday. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Great great grandmother and friend to all she knew and never met a stranger. Mrs. Broussard was a member of the Garden Club, the Homemaker''s Club and enjoyed fishing and going to the casino. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church Community in Lafayette, served on the Ladies Altar Society and was a member of the Catholic Daughters for over 63 years. Mrs. Broussard loved to travel to any location at any time. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Dwayne Broussard, André Broussard, Kevin Broussard, Eric Lyons, Mark Nelson and P.J. Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Nelson, Lance Nelson, Wesley Nelson, Daniel Broussard, Adam Broussard and Roy Case. The Broussard Family would like to give special thanks to Laurie Broussard, Leanna Lemaire, Betty Fredericks, and Heart of Hospice for the loving care they provided. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 1:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Location. The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 10:00 AM until time of services.
