The Life of Mark Woodson Hopkins

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Mark W. Hopkins, 53, who died on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by his family. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth-Seton Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Georgette Dugas and Jill Jordan. Giftbearers will be Matt Chiasson and Sarah Prevost. Michael Grado, soloist, will sing for the services. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Michelle Meaux Hopkins; one daughter, Jennifer Anne Hopkins; two sons, William Mark Hopkins and Nicholas George Anselmo; his parents, Woodson and Wanda Hopkins; two sisters, Charisse Hopkins Langla and Angela Hopkins Patton; and one brother, Stephen Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his In Laws, George Lee Meaux and Amelia Scalco Meaux. Mark W. Hopkins was born on December 12, 1958 in Waco, Texas. He was a 1977 graduate of Lafayette High School, and went on to attend USL, now ULL, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Mark worked for DEI for over 29 years as a landman and acquisitions manager. He coached soccer for LYSA and Acadiana High School and was head coach of the CSC Rage for over 20 years. Mark was an avid guitarist who enjoyed playing with friends for fundraisers, and also enjoyed running. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to all and will be dearly missed. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE Location. The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of services. The family would like to give special thanks to a close family friend, Dr. Ronald Jenkins, and the Doctors, nurses and staff of Lafayette General Medical Center for their kindness, compassion and loving care given to Mr. Hopkins during his time of need.
