The Life of Eula Trahan

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012, at a 2:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Eula Menard Trahan, age 89, who died on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at River Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Ave Maria", "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand" for the services. Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Gautreau and her husband, James of Lafayette; two sons, Bobby Trahan and his wife, Olivia of McAllen, Texas and Jimmie Trahan and his wife, Karen of Youngsville; seven grandchildren, Stacey Burton, Rowdy Gautreau, Alan Trahan, Danny Trahan, Kalani Trahan, Melia Trahan and Keoki Trahan; and sixteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Widley Trahan; her parents, Dolze Menard and the former, Clarise Melancon; two brothers, Jack Menard, Loveless Menard; three sisters, Eunice Tabb, Nellie West and Della M. Langlinais and one granddaughter, Sonja A. Gautreau. Mrs. Trahan was born on January 17, 1923 in Youngsville, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Youngsville. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and also a member of the St. Anne Ladies Altar Society of Youngsville. Prior to her retirement with the Lafayette Parish School Board, Mrs. Trahan was a Manager of Food Services at Comeaux High School. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. Pallbearers will be Bobby Trahan, James Gautreau, Rowdy Gautreau, Mike Burton, and Charles Langlinais. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of service. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of River Oaks Retirement Manor for their kind care and compassionate touch in which they gave to Eula.
