The Life of Juanita l Lagneaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Father Tom Voorhies at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 3, 2012, at Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel for Juanita Cormier Lagneaux, 82, who passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012. Interment will be at Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette. Mrs. Lagneaux was born on January 30, 1930, in Lafayette to Fernest and Yola Patin Cormier. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Earlier in life, she was an avid golfer and active member of the Women’s City Golf League. She enjoyed playing in many tournaments and held the title of City Champion. When she began the journey as a wife & mother, she had an enduring devotion to the care of her children, grand-children, family and friends. She enriched many lives and reached out to anyone in need. Her kitchen was the center of many great family memories where anyone and everyone could enjoy “Maw Maw’s” great cooking. Even with this busy life, she never missed an opportunity for a weekly card game or Monday night pokeno with the girls. She will be remembered by many for her great wit, spontaneity and joie de vivre. Mrs. Lagneaux is survived by her ten children, Leon Lagneaux and wife Ann Banquer Lagneaux, of DeRidder, Lana Lagneaux of Lafayette, Donna Lagneaux Fallis and husband Claud, of Abbeville, Jace Lagneaux and wife Terrie Doyle Lagneaux, of New Iberia, Linda Lagneaux Thomas and husband Phil, of Lafayette, Felicia Lagneaux Smith and husband Dale, of Lafayette, Lorie Lagneaux Olivier and husband Jay Paul, of Charlotte, N.C., Brett Lagneaux and Maxine Langlinais of Youngsville, Leah Lagneaux Talbot and husband Tommy, of Broussard and Lynette Lagneaux Picou and fiancé George Lanerie, of Lafayette; one sister, Rosemary Cormier Robichaux, of Lafayette, three nieces, Kaye Robichaux Breaux, Faye Robichaux Olivier, and Judy Cormier, two nephews, Carrol Robichaux, Jr., and Ronald Robichaux; thirty-two grandchildren fourteen great-grandchildren, and special family friend Rita Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph A. Lagneaux, two brothers, Fernest ‘Junior’ Cormier and Curtis Cormier, one nephew, John Lee Cormier, and one niece, Gloria Cormier. The family requests that visitation will be observed from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2012, and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org). Pallbearers will be Mrs. Lagneaux’s three sons, Leon, Jace and Brett, and her three oldest grandsons, Brian H. Banquer, Robert C. Fallis, and Adam J. Lagneaux. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
