The Life of Bertha Beulah Barras
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Bertha Beulah Guidry Barras, 90, who died on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Hospice of Baton Rouge Butterfly Wing surrounded by her family.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the service, "Ave Maria," "On Eagles'' Wings," "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman," and "Be Not Afraid."
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Meisel and her husband, Harry and Karen Hohensee and her husband, Glenn; seven grandchildren, Reginald Savoie, II and his wife, Brianna, Gregory Savoie and his wife, Ivelisse, Candace Hohensee, Glenn Hohensee II, Caroline Hohensee, Christopher Lovelady and Joan Lovelady; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dudley Barras; her parents, David and Ada Guidry one daughter, Loretta Lovelady; one son-in-law, Anthony Lovelady; and one sister, Laura Chewning.
Bertha Beulah Guidry Barras was born on January 6, 1922 in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Bertha was a faithful member of the St. Patrick''s Catholic Church Community in Lafayette. She enjoyed embroidery and spending time with her family and friends. Bertha will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Harry Meisel, Glenn Hohensee, Reginald Savoie II, Gregory Savoie, Glenn Hohensee II, Reginald Savoie III.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral services.
