The Life of Brian Anthony Hebert Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette for Brian Anthony Hébert, Sr., 77, who passed away on Saturday, October 27 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park. His son-in-law, David Anderson, and his grandson, Michael Anderson, will serve as lectors. Pall Bearers will be his nephews Glen Bodin, Perry Hillegeist, Jr., Charles Hillegeist, and Paul Hillegeist; his grandson Stephen Anderson, and close friend Paul Matte. Deacon Keith Duhon will deliver the eulogy written by his children.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Diane Sabatier Hébert; three sons, Brian Hébert, Jr. of Shreveport; Paul Hébert and his wife Leah; Rene Hébert and his wife Courtney, all of Lafayette; and one daughter, Stephanie Hébert Anderson and her husband David of Baton Rouge; and six grandchildren, Michael, Stephen and Eric Anderson and Kaitlyn, Rachel and Michelle Hébert. He is also survived by two sisters, Hester Hébert Dupuy and Shirley Hébert Hillegeist and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Aline Hébert; two brothers, Emmett Hébert and Earl Hébert; and three sisters, Hazel Hébert Barras, Jesse Hébert Bodin and Louise Hébert Ribble.
Brian Anthony Hébert was born on October 24, 1935 in Charenton, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Hanson Memorial High School in Franklin and SLI (now UL) in Lafayette where he earned a BS in Industrial Arts. Mr. Hébert taught high school industrial arts for 14 years. He then founded Brian Hébert Woodworks and owned and operated that business for the past 44 years. Brian will be remembered for his excellent craftsmanship and mechanical ability. Of special pride to him was the woodworking done by his company in St. Pius Church. He was a devoted Christian and was always willing to apply his special skills to help his church.
Brian served as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was a devoted member of St Pius X Church for many years, an active member of the United States Power Squadron, and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 29 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 30 from 8:00 AM until the service.
Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. led by the Serviam Group of the Theresians in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location.
