The Life of Hazel Guidry
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Hazel Jolie Guidry, 80, who died on Friday, October 26, 2012 at her residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Jonathan Haygood, Pastor of The Breaux Bridge Pentecostals will conduct the funeral services. Alicia Bell, Hilton Richard and Laura Richard, vocalists, accompanied by Sean Lasseigne, organist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace," "Beulah Land," and "How Great Thou Art". Paul Thibodeaux will give the eulogy.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Laurence Guidry and his wife, Mary Grace, Linda Hebert and her husband, Kenneth, Joanna Guidry, Pamela Richard and her husband, Glenn, Rene Guidry and his wife, Betty, Cynthia Gary and her husband, Kenneth and Yvonne Guidry; one step-sister, Joyce Breckenridge; one step-brother, Russell Girard; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifty-five great grandchildren; and eleven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rene and Julia Dalfrey Jolie; her husband, Clarence Guidry; three grandchildren, Angelica "Jelly" Cole, Kenneth Hebert, Jr., and Joseph James Richard; three great grandchildren, Kandiss LeAnn Richard, Alayna Marie Doré, and Eric Johnson; one great great grandchild, Cohen Hargrave; one sister, Rita Eure; and one step-sister, Laura Begnaud.
Hazel Jolie Guidry was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She loved taking care of her family, and selflessly devoted her life to them. She loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Hazel will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Laurence Guidry, Timothy Guidry, Kenneth Hebert, Rene Guidry, Benjamin Richard and Hilton Richard. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Gary, Scotty Dore, Kenneth Gary and Huey Stelly.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 8:00 AM until time of services.
The family would like to give special thanks to her daughter and caregiver of seven years, Yvonne Guidry, and the nurses and staff of Lamm Home Health especially Frieda, Kayla, Leslie, Tricia and Erin, for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Mrs. Guidry during her time of need.
