The Life of Leonard Lee Broussard

Funeral Services will be held at a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 24, 2012 at St. Jules Church for Leonard Lee Broussard, 95, who passed away on September 20, 2012 at 5:30 am at his residence. Reverend Monsignor J. Douglas Courville, Pastor of St. Stephen Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Broussard, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Dua Broussard and the former Laura Simon both of Lafayette, Louisiana. Mr. Broussard graduated from Milton High School. He then went to Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now ULL) and majored in education. He had continuing education short courses in management and communications at Louisiana State University, University of Colorado and Texas State University. His employment included Classroom teacher at Youngsville High School, Louisiana Department of Labor, Employment Security Division. He served at the Lafayette Office as Employment Interviewer, New Iberia office as Manager, Monroe Office as Manager and the Lafayette Parish Government as Employment and Training Director, where he was the Parish's first Director to plan, organize and implement the Employment and Training Program. He was a member of the Lafayette Teachers' Association and the Employment and Training Directors which is an organization for the five states in the Southwest Region. He was appointed to serve as a member of the Governor's State Job Training Coordinating Council. He was a member of St. Jules Catholic Church where he was active as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and commentator. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Lafayette, Woodmen of the World, Lodge 238, Knights of Columbus, Council 4683, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Dubourg Assembly, International Good Neighbor Council (Acadiana Chapter) A.A.R.P. Chapter 717, Les Amis Du Codofil, Golden Age Club and Retired Senior Volunteer Program. He is survived by two sisters, Rita B. Freeman and husband, Jim and Laura Mae Lueck, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette A. "Netta" Broussard; his parents; one sister, Nella B. Prejean and three brothers, Wilfred, Fred and J. Maxie Broussard, Sr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 am until the time of services. Pallbearers will be Floyd Courvelle, Mike Hamner, Jeff Dupuis, Danny Lueck, Rolland Broussard, Byron Broussard, John P. Broussard and John Maxie Broussard, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rotary Club Members of Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Mr. Broussard to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Stacey Willis and her crew, Jolene Doucet with Hospice of Acadiana and numerous friends and family during the past few months.
