The Life of Morris Cutrer Watson

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice for Morris Cutrer Watson, 89, who passed away on August 19, 2012 at 8:40 pm at his residence. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Watson, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Alexander Thompson Watson of Greensburg, Louisiana and the former Pearl Cutrer of Osyka, Mississippi. He was born on November 1, 1922 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At age 3, he was sent to the Masonic Home for Children and stayed there for 10 years. He then moved to Brookhaven, MS where he graduated from High School in 1940. Morris fought in the Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He then worked for Amoco Production (now B.P.)for 36 years. He is survived by his loving family of 51 years, Amelia Lege' Watson; three children, Charles Watson and his wife Angie of Breaux Bridge, LA, Catherine W. McCrary of Benicia, CA, and Edward Watson in Lafayette, LA; nephew Bob Watson and wife Iva of Pensacola, FL; eleven grandchildren, Christopher Cabe-Maury, Caroline Mc Crary, Alexandra Mc Crary, Connor Watson, Craig Watson, Alana Watson, Hannah Fackler, Jonathan Fackler, Wesley Bryan, Amanda Bryan and Tim Bryan; two great grandchildren, Cheyenne Bryan and Sebastien Cabe-Maury. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Virgil, Edward and Robert; sisters, Esther Josephine and Elizabeth (Betsy), as well as his daughter, Laura Watson Bryan. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Maurice on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday 8:00 am until the time of service in Maurice. Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Mr. Watson to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermilion, Lafayette, LA 70501. Pallbearers will be Charles Watson, Edward Watson, Christopher Cabe-Maury, Jude Reese, Connor Watson and Bob Watson. The family would like to thank everyone at Heart of Hospice for their kindness shown to the family, the concern, love and gentleness shown to the Morris family during Mr. Morris' three months as a patient at Heart of Hospice. Delhomme Funeral Home, 200 Chief H. Fred Avenue, Maurice, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
