The Life of Jerry Venable Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012, at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Jerry Venable, Jr., 67, who died on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Pastor Bobby Richard of Hope Alive Church will conduct the funeral services. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include his beloved wife, Delores Abshire Venable; two daughters, Angie Bourque and her husband Tim and Suzanne Venable Hicks; three sons, Jimmy Lucas Bailey, Kyle Venable and Louis Bailey and his wife Stephanie; one brother, Lawrence Venable; fourteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Venable, Sr. and Eugenia Stelly Venable; one brother, George H. Venable; and two sisters, Thelma Spell and Mildred Dugas. Jerry Venable, Jr. was a longtime resident of Lafayette and retired in August of 2011 after 44 years with Coburns. He loved playing golf, bowling, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Lafayette Seniors, Acadiana Golf Society and the Sunrise Golf Association. Jerry bowled on the Lucky Strikes League and the Coke League. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
