The Life of Billy Wayne Bodiford

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Broussard, Louisiana for Billy W. Bodiford, age 79, who died on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Weldon Moak, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Broussard, will conduct the funeral services. Eulogist will be Reverend Wallace Millsaps. The Keller Brothers will sing, "How Great Thou Art", "Because He Lives" and "This Train Is Bound For Glory". Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Glynda F. Bodiford; one daughter, Tela Hebert and her husband, Rodney; one son, Steve Bodiford and his wife, Kathy; four grandchildren, Amanda Randall, Kelly Hebert, Lauren Romero and her husband Jordy, and Craig Bodiford; four great grandchildren, Ariel Randall, Jacques Randall, McKennah Randall and Zechariah Randall; four sisters, Virginia Wood, Sue Kunkel, Betty Wells and Cathy Gibbs, and one brother, Gene Bodiford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Lee Bodiford and the former, Grace Beatrice Palmer. Born on November 10, 1932, Mr. Bodiford was a native of Lindale, Texas and a resident of Youngsville, Louisiana for 43 years. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Mr. Bodiford was employed with Penrod Drilling Company for 27 years, then worked as a Field Superintendent with Rig Tools for 13 years. In his younger life, he loved fishing, hunting and sky diving, but his passion was his oilfield career. Mr. Bodiford was a member of First Baptist Church in Broussard. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather and brother, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Pallbearers will be Frank Wells, Ed Gibbs, Craig Bodiford, Jordy Romero, Cecil Desoto and Mike Shows. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Wednesday from 2:30 PM until 8:00 PM.
