The Life of Leon Patrick Melancon

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at a 10:00 AM Service in First Baptist Church of Youngsville for Leon Patrick Melancon, age 70, who died on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 4:24 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum. Reverend Mark Gaudin, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Youngsville, will conduct the funeral services. Eulogist will be Glynn Rhinehart. Warren Keller, vocalist, accompanied on the organ by Lana Rinehart, will sing "The Light House" and "The Lord's Prayer". "Amazing Grace" will be sung by the congregation and "I'll Take Your Love With Me" played and sung by CD. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Sibley Melancon; his daughters, Denise Melancon Thompson and her husband James, Tracy Melancon, Stephanie Melancon Guardia and her husband Chris, Debbie Moody Sorcic, Carrie Moody Robicheaux and her husband Chad and Mary Moody Scarborough and her husband Mark; his sons, Perry Melancon and his partner Benson Row, Kevin Melancon and his wife Ellen, Robbie Melancon and his wife, Christine and Michael Moody, Jr. and his wife Angie; twenty six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon "Bob" Melancon and Cecile Dore' Melancon; a brother, Peter Melancon and a son Chad Melancon. Leon Patrick Melancon was born on March 1, 1942 in Lafayette, and was a resident of Youngsville for most of his life. He was a veteran of military service having proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Melancon was a member of First Baptist Church in Youngsville. He was owner and operator of SanPat Trucking LLC. Mr. Melancon loved golfing, dancing and reading his bible and most of all loved his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, who will be dearly missed by everyone. Pallbearers will be Perry Melancon, Kevin Melancon, Robbie Melancon, Michael Moody Jr., James Thompson, Chris Guardia, Chad Robicheaux and Benson Row. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Scarborough and Seth Robicheaux. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
