The Life of Lillian Edwards

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 10:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Lillian Menard Edwards, 94, who died on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Magnolia Estates in Lafayette. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Brother Robert Richardson and Brother Noah Langley, will conduct the funeral services. Charlotte Jagneaux, soloist, accompanied by Mike Totaro, organist, will sing "The Old Rugged Cross", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "How Great Thou Art" for the services. Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Smith, Tahnelle "Heidi" Herrit and her husband Dennis and Carol Edwards; one son-in-law, David Robichaux, Sr.; thirteen grandchildren, Shelly Kendrick and her husband Keenan, Stephanie Morrow and her husband Andrew, Elizabeth Ernst and her husband Ronald, Douglas Herrit and his wife Katie, Abigail Herrit, Jonathan Herrit, Paula Miguez, Christopher Robichaux, Miriam Robichaux, Hannah Hyde and her husband Enoch, Lydia LeJeune, David Thomas Robichaux, Jr. and Michael Robichaux; eleven great grandchildren, Killian and Kya Kendrick, Aidan Morrow, Mason and Hallie Ernst, Zaylee Bergbigler, Spencer Miguez, Samuel Hyde, Dylan, Nathaniel and Trinity LeJeune; two step-grandchildren, Russell Edwards and his wife Maryellen and Jennifer Edwards Lewandowski and her husband Theodore; and one sister, Gertrude Rose Witko and her husband Edward. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Crawford "TP" Edwards; one daughter, Beryl Robichaux; one grandson, Jeremiah Edwards; parents, Michel and Mary Clothilda Cormier Menard; six brothers, Murphy, Oviniac, Augustin, Raoul, Desire and Joseph "Pacoon" Menard; two sisters, Rosita Menard and Dermedese Marie Thibodeaux; and one step-son, Stuart Lee Edwards. A native of Cankton and a resident of Lafayette, Lillian Menard Edwards was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Lafayette and worked for South Central Bell in New Orleans, Abdalla's in downtown Lafayette and sold Tupperware from 1965-1987. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Legion and Purple Heart. Lillian Edwards will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Thomas Robichaux, Michael Robichaux, Dennis Herrit, Doug Herrit, Carol Menard and Harold Menard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Linton "Nego" Menard, Robert Cline and his wife Gloria and Michael Sonnier and his wife Karen. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
