The Life of Michael Brent Dugal
Memorial services will be held at a 2:00 Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Michael “Brent” Dugal who passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at his residence.
Brent was born on September 2, 1955 in Whidbey Island, WA. He was a lifelong resident of Lafayette and owner of Dugal’s Nursery. Brent was most remembered for his love of life, and kindness to animals. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking and just being outdoors. He treasured time spent with family and friends. Characteristic of Brent’s outgoing personality, he was always quick to offer a handshake and a smile making those around him feel welcome and at ease. His trademark sense of humor never ceased to entertain. Known for his quick wit, Brent provided one liners that were often quoted by family and friends. Brent never lost his sense of humor or the ability to tell a good story. He continued to use those gifts to comfort those around him in his final days.
Those left with great memories include: his wife, Jeanie Driskill Dugal, daughter, Melissa Dugal Bastien and her husband Jean-Jacques, of Houston, TX, his son, Christopher Edward Dugal and grandsons Michael Jayden Dugal and Loic Brent Bastien. Other family members include his mother Betty Brent Dugal and sisters, Dona Dugal, Debbie Desormeaux, Denise Dugal and Dianne Paris, as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his daily companions, Ellie, Thor and Lily- his dogs.
Brent was preceded in death by his son, Michael Roy Dugal, father, Gordon “Donnie” Dugal and brother Gordon Edward Dugal, III.
The family request that visitation be held on Wednesday at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette from 11:00 am until the time of services.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Acadiana, especially Judith Crowder and Nancy O’Dell for their compassionate care, as well as Father Manny and friends and family for their prayers, guidance and support. Lastly, they would like to thank Bill Thibeaux, a lifelong friend and Ronnie Duhon, a valued employee and friend.
