The Life of Rose Marie Walker

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. at Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette, Louisiana for Rose Marie Pusateri Walker, 81, who died on Saturday, June 9, 2012 in Madison, Alabama. Deacon Jim Davis of St. Genevieve Catholic Church will perform the service. Survivors include her sister, Sister Mary George Pusateri of St. Rita's Convent in New Orleans, Louisiana and four children: Jane Walker Barrilleaux, Mary Rose Walker Luce, Samuel Joseph Walker, and Joseph Emile Walker, III, as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Rose Walker was born on March 25, 1931 in Franklin, Louisiana and was the youngest of six children. After marrying Joseph Emile "J.E." Walker, Jr. in September 1951, she moved to Lafayette, Louisiana and raised her four children. In October 2009, she moved to Madison, Alabama. In her early years, Mrs. Walker worked as a cafeteria worker at St. Genevieve Elementary School and Teurlings Catholic High School for many years. She later joined her husband at their family restaurant (Walkers Restaurant) located on Jefferson Boulevard in downtown Lafayette, until retiring in 1986. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Emile Walker, Jr.; her parents, Tony Pusateri and Beatrice Siracusa Pusateri of Franklin, La.; siblings, Joseph Pusateri, John Pusateri, Josephine Sinitiere, and Samuel Pusateri; and son-in-law, Stephen Francis Luce. Rose will be missed by all who knew her
