The Life of Margaret Pollard

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Margaret I. Pollard, 89, who passed away on June 1, 2012, at 4:32 pm at her residence. Pastor Jeff Pollard, her son and a Pastor of Mt. Zion Bible Church, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Pollard was the daughter of the late Oscar Edwin Irwin and the former Emma Brim, both of Illinois. Margaret was a faithful wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a great mother-in-law, and a gracious Christian woman. She lived in Lafayette for 38 years and was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church until Jeff and Myra took her into their home to care for her. She spent the last two years and eight months of her life at the Gulf Breeze Courtyard, a memory care community. She is survived by one son, Jeff Pollard and wife Myra of Pensacola, FL; two grandchildren, Lacey Pollard of Pensacola, FL, and Jordan Pollard of New Orleans, LA; and one great grandchild, Dane Pollard of New Orleans, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis D. " L.D." Pollard; parents; one sister, Carrie Lee Randall and five brothers, Oscar, Ralph, George, Frank and Gene Irwin. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, from 1:00 pm until the time of service in Lafayette. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
