The Life of Earlene Gertrude Marie Broussard

Funeral Services will be held at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church for Earlene Gertrude Marie Banquer Broussard, 85, who passed away on May 30, 2012 at 11:50 am at Lafayette General Medical Center. Reverend Tom Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. The rite of committal will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Earlene, a native of Harvey, Louisiana, was born on December 9, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mae Thibodeaux Banquer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband "Red" Louis Pierre Broussard, a native of Youngsville. Earlene and "Red" lived and raised their family in Cut Off, Louisiana for 26 years and then made their home in Lafayette and Scott since 1975. Survivors include her loving children, Matthew Broussard and his wife Gayle of Breaux Bridge; Melissa Tauzin of Lafayette; David Broussard and his wife Patsy of Larose; Mary David of Leonville; and Maurice Broussard and his wife Deborah of Dover, Arkansas. Her grandchildren include Tika Sevin, Salina Stelly, Athena Pope, Nicole Vige, Jeanine Thibodeaux, Mark Tauzin, and Michael David. Her great¬grandchildren include Celeste Vige, Natalie and Samuel Thibodeaux, Shea and Devin Alario, Brianna Sevin, Daniel and Jamie Stelly, Maximus Wheeler, and Dakota Pope. She is also survived by her brothers, Cleveland Banquer of Lafayette, and Israel "Tookie" Banquer of Marrero, Louisiana. Earlene was a talented homemaker, hostess, and business partner of her husband. She had a unique and unforgettable personality whose strong family values supported immediate and extended family in good times and bad. All who knew her will remember her creative and delicious cooking. Her sense of style and imagination was expressed in her lovely sewn creations that included everything from special clothes for family to dance costumes and wedding gowns. She was business manager for her husband's consulting business, and later, office manager for Weintritt Testing Labs of Lafayette. She was a woman of strong opinions and enjoyed an intelligent debate any time. She was such a unique individual that not only will she be missed but will also be remembered for many years to come. The immediate family would like to express their love and appreciation to the extended family and friends who have given such support and love in times of need. They would also like to thank the medical community for the quality of care provided over the years. Visitation will be held at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited Friday evening at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Patrick R. Trahan, Patrick C. Trahan, Tyler Vicknair, Mark Tauzin, Jason Stelly and Jason Broussard. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
