The Life of Presley Joseph Menard Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at a 2:00 PM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Presley Joseph Menard, Sr., 72, who died on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at his residence in Duson surrounded by his family.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services. Kenneth Holloway will sing for the services, ""Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross".
Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Jane Simon Menard of Duson; one daughter, Tracie Menard Thibodeaux and her husband, Michael of Carencro; one son, Presley Joseph Menard, Jr. of Lafayette; his mother, Mildred David Mouton of Lafayette; one sister, Geri Miller and her husband, Gene of Scott; one brother, Harris Menard and his wife, Beverly of Lafayette; and four grandchildren, Heidi Thibodeaux, Skyler Thibodeaux, Chaz Menard and Lani Menard.
He was preceded in death by his father, Duey Menard, Sr.; and one brother, Dewey Menard, Jr.
Presley Joseph Menard was born in Erath, Louisiana, grew up in Lafayette and was a resident of Duson for most of his life. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, and was Honorably Discharged in 1962. Mr. Menard worked as a contracted optician for many years until his retirement. He was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him, and will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be Michael Thibodeaux, Skyler Thibodeaux, Chaz Menard, Ronnie Cormier, Jr., Raymond Simon, Andre Brice Melancon.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 9:00 AM until time of services.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of St. Joseph Hospice, especially Debbie White, Sarah Winchell, Reese Broussard and Eushika Fontenett, for their kindness, compassion and loving care given to Mr. Menard and his family during their time of need.
